I was so excited when I got a message from Scott, asking if I would take their family photos. I worked at Franciscan University with him before I had John. When I met with Scott and Jill to talk about what they were looking for in family photos, they pointed to the portrait on the family room wall. “This is the last time we had family photos taken” they said. “It’s missing our two youngest kids!” Those kids weren’t even born yet…that’s how long it had been since they had professional photos taken of the family.
We met on a rainy spring evening in Steubenville, Ohio. I assured them that even though it was cloudy, drizzling and we may feel like the vegetables in the produce department under the mister, I CAN shoot in all types of weather! We found an awesome stone staircase that had a covered patio near it so that the group could stand under it and stay dry while the others were being photographed. Jill’s parents came into town and they joined in the session! As I was shooting I was reminded how especially important photos are when grandparents are involved. Three generations in photos and these photos will last for years and years. These children will be able to look back at these photos and see how much their parents and grandparents loved each other and them.
I’m so happy with how these photos turned out and I love the fact that the Greve family will have an updated family photo hanging in their living room very soon!
