Veronica and Luke’s stunning wedding day was dappled with beauty. I was reminded of the quote from St. Augustine “Since love grows within you, so beauty grows. For love is the beauty of the soul.” There was so much heavenly love and beauty present throughout their day. Both come from big, faithful Catholic families, providing a firm foundation for their relationship. I was struck with a sense of awe as we captured their day, awe at the perfect plan, crafted by God, that brought these two together.
Veronica spent most of her life living abroad in Europe with her family. But life brought her back to the Cincinnati area and one day she was at Mass and saw Luke, or rather the back of Luke’s head. She had a sense that God might be at work here and the two quickly became friends and fell in love. You can tell how deeply they love each other and how perfectly God had planned for this marriage to become a reality.
Their wedding day arrived and we began our time with them at the picturesque Verona Vineyards in Verona, KY. The house was filled with friends and family, all giddy with excitement for the impending nuptials. Veronica looked like she walked out of a history book with her iconic lace dress and veil. As we finished up, we loaded the cars full of flowers, bridesmaids and flower girls!
We arrived at the church in Walton, KY. Our Lady of the Assumption Church is where Veronica first saw Luke and it’s where Luke grew up attending Mass. Their Mass was heavenly. Their music was particularly stunning (shout out to the musicians from our parish at Old St. Mary’s!) and I loved the song when they brought flowers to Mary (Rachmaninoff’s Ave Maria). Definitely take a listen!
After Mass, we made a quick stop at the convent across the street to see the Dominican nuns. And then we headed back to Verona Vineyards for a meal and photos. It was such a lovely spot for photos and I have too many good ones to share! Later on we headed to St. Cecelia’s for the reception! Their wedding cake was the largest wedding cake I had ever photographed! Luke’s mother made it herself which made it all the more special! The couple danced the night away with the family and friends filling the dance floor! It was a wedding we will never forget!
Veronica and Luke, we are so thankful for the opportunity to capture your wedding day and meet your amazing families! It was truly a gift! God bless you both and we can’t wait to see what God has planned for your new family!
