Olivia and Brian’s garden party themed wedding at Whitehall House and Gardens in Louisville, KY was a stunner from beginning to end. When Olivia had reached out to me about capturing her day, she had included a Pinterest board with her vision. Well, her vision came to life on a sunny day in May and it couldn’t have been more perfect! The bright pops of blue and pink florals, along with the colorful attire of the wedding guests mingling in the gardens of the estate, made for a dream wedding to photograph.
We began their day at Whitehall, which is just as beautiful interiorly as it is exteriorly. Each room has a uniqueness to it, and I found myself in awe as I explored this historic home. Olivia’s family and friends were busily getting ready, and I enjoyed chatting with them. One of the best parts of this job is getting to know the people who are dearest to the couple. The house was full of excitement as Olivia stepped out into the hallway with her dress and lace-trimmed veil. It was time to get married.
Meanwhile, Matthew was with Brian and his groomsmen. They had stayed in a unique hotel in town that used to be a disco ball factory! Brian gifted his groomsmen such a thoughtful and intentional gift: NFL jerseys of their favorite teams. I love that this is something they can use in the future and will remind them of this special day.
We headed to St. James Catholic Church in Louisville for their wedding Mass. Fr. Joseph Hagan, O.P. was the celebrant and he had gotten to know the couple while Brian studied at the Catholic University of America. He gave one of the best homilies I’ve ever heard (classic Dominican being excellent at preaching!) and in just an hour’s time, the couple was married and received the Eucharist for the first time as a married couple.
We headed back to Whitehall for the garden party reception. I was so excited to capture all the little details that Olivia had been planning for over a year. The party was under a white tent and guests weaved in and out of the gardens, enjoying their appetizers and drinks during the cocktail hour. After some hilarious and heartfelt toasts, it was time to party!! The dance floor was filled and this group really knew how to tear up the dance floor! It was a joyous ending to the most perfect day!
Olivia and Brian, it was an absolute honor to serve you both. Your perseverance in a long-distance relationship and your deep love for Jesus and His Church are inspiring. We are so excited to see what God has in store for your new family. God bless you both and we hope to see you soon!
