January 5, 2021
2021 is here and we started it off doing what we love: serving a couple on their wedding day. This was my first time in Wisconsin….the land of cheese curds (which are delicious by the way.) When we landed there was a thick blanket of snow and I was instantly excited for the wintry portraits.
We met up with Rosie and Patrick the day before their wedding and they gave us a tour of St. Paul’s Catholic Student Center on the campus of UW Madison. This church is absolutely stunning and it was even more special since this is where the couple met and fell in love. One of the things I loved most about this chapel were the mosaics of the saints inside the church. When Fr. Eric designed the chapel, using elements from churches in Rome as his inspiration, he intentionally chose each saint and had them depicted as young adults since this would be a college chapel. Everywhere you looked in St. Paul’s, there was such attention to detail and everything was designed with evangelization through beauty in mind.
January 1st 2021 arrived and it was a chilly winter day. But the cold wind didn’t stop the joy and excitement. Rosie’s dress was custom made and when she stepped out in her gorgeous gown, everyone commented that it was “so her”. The tears started to flow as Rosie shared a tender first look with her father. When the doors opened and Rosie and Patrick locked eyes, the emotions flowed freely and I’m not sure there was a dry eye in that chapel.
After the beautiful nuptial Mass it was time for portraits. Rosie and Patrick had hoped for a snowy wedding day and that’s exactly what they got! The snow was gently falling as the newly married couple danced in the street in front of St. Paul’s. It was so picturesque and reminded me of Narnia!
We absolutely loved getting to know Rosie, Patrick and their dear family and friends. It was a wedding we will never forget and we really hope to return to St. Paul’s again soon! To the new Mr. and Mrs. Francis, we pray that God abundantly blesses you two and we are so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve you. Your witness to Love and authentic joy permeated the whole day! We hope you enjoy reliving your stunning wedding day through this post!
xoxo,
Laura
