Traditional Latin Nuptial Mass at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Cleveland | Kayla + John

Kayla and John’s wedding day was filled with beauty and emotion. Their wedding color pallet was fall-inspired with terracotta bridesmaids’ dresses and navy groomsmen suits. The warm autumn colors were carried throughout the whole day: from the bouquets to the stunning wooden high altar at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Cleveland, OH to the campus of St. Ignatius High School where we stopped for photos to the interior of their reception venue.  It was the perfect end to our 2021 wedding season!

Kayla and John’s day began with so much excitement.  As I photographed the details, I could hear the joy and anticipation in the voices of Kayla’s friends and family.  Everyone was giddy, knowing that this day had finally arrived!  John had lots of details for Matthew to photograph and they were filled with so much meaning and history.  His cufflinks and tie clip were from his grandfathers which were so beautiful.  I love sentimental details, they tell a story and continue the legacy of family.

Their Traditional Latin Nuptial Mass was solemn and stunning.  The music was beautiful which complimented the immense beauty of the church.  As you knelt in the pew, your eyes darted around all the intricate carvings in the wood and to all the gorgeous windows. Every inch of this church was so intentionally beautiful, all giving glory to God.  As the doors opened and Kayla began to walk down the long aisle to John, his response to her beauty was so tender.  His tears were of joy as his beloved walked towards him.  It was such a precious moment that led right into the Rite of Marriage.  Before God and His angels, they promised to be faithful till death.

After their Mass, we headed to the campus of St. Ignatius High School where John went to school. Though it was quite cold outside, we got lots of gorgeous portraits around the courtyard and then hopped onto the party bus to warm up. We finished up portraits in Ohio City, near Great Lakes Brewing Co. People all along the street were honking and cheering for the couple! It was so clear to everyone how happy Kayla and John were to finally be husband and wife!

Their wedding reception was at the American Wilderness Campground. After hilarious and touching toasts and a delicious dinner with perogies (yum!!) Kayla and John washed each other’s feet in a beautiful act of service.  It was a testament to how they intend to serve each other in love, journeying together towards heaven.

Kayla and John, we hope you are having a blast, soaking up that warm sun in Florida! It was a joy to work with you both and we hope that these images will always remind you of the day you became husband and wife! God bless you both!

xoxo,

Laura
