You couldn’t have picked a more perfect day for Harper and Connor’s wedding. The sun was shining all day but it wasn’t too hot. The blue sky was speckled with puffy white clouds that reminded me of the wallpaper from Toy Story. It was the picture-perfect setting for a lovely wedding day.
When I arrived in the morning, Harper greeted me with a huge smile! She had put so much time and effort into planning this day and it had finally arrived. She slipped into her gorgeous gown, had a first look with her dad, and then we were on our way to the church!
Speaking of the church, guys, this basilica. How do I even start to describe this place? Words fall short to capture the immense beauty of this church. I even struggled to capture the magnitude of its beauty in photos. It’s like being at the Grand Canyon, you try to take a picture of it and you look at the back of your camera and think, “this doesn’t even begin to capture the beauty.” So you put your camera down and soak it in with your eyes. Well, in this case, I didn’t put my camera down since I had a wedding to capture. But I did take time to just soak it in before the Mass started. The Basilica of St. Josaphat is in downtown Milwaukee and I can’t recommend it enough as a spot to visit and pray if you’re in the area! I seriously felt like I was in Europe!
After their beautiful wedding Mass, we headed over to Marquette University’s campus for portraits. We used the gardens surrounding the St. Joan of Arc chapel in the heart of campus. This chapel was built around 1420 in France and it houses a stone upon which St. Joan of Arc prayed for success before battle. Such a cool piece of history in this midwest city!
Their reception was at the picturesque Folk Song Farm. I was in heaven taking portraits all around their property. After portraits, it was time for dinner. A pig roast awaited them along with an amazing array of classic midwest fare. After a delicious dinner, toasts and dances, and delicious cake, we took photos as the sun set behind the horizon, completing a perfect wedding day!
Harper and Connor, we hope you’re having an amazing time in the Caribbean on your honeymoon. Your wedding day was stunning, from beginning to end. It’s been a joy to get to know you two and your families. Enjoy scrolling through our favorites from your day!
xoxo,
Laura
