At the end of April, Madison and Alex were married in one of the most iconic churches in Northern Kentucky: the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption. But this wedding day was decades in the making for these two childhood sweethearts.

The day began at Hotel Covington, where Madison and her bridesmaids got ready in the soft morning light. Her wedding details perfectly reflected the romantic spring palette woven throughout the day. Soft purple florals, light greens, crisp whites, and elegant calla lilies added such a refined, timeless touch to every bouquet and centerpiece. The bridesmaids wore purple satin dresses with bows that added such a classy and fun touch!

Madison and Alex’s story began long before wedding planning and engagement photos. They first met in sixth grade math class and, incredibly, have been together ever since. Childhood sweethearts in the truest sense, their wedding day carried the kind of comfort and joy that only comes from growing up alongside one another.

Before their wedding Mass, Madison and Alex shared a private moment, exchanging heartfelt, tearful vows they had written for one another. It was one of the most emotional parts of the day — words filled with years of memories, deep friendship, unwavering love, and the kind of understanding that only comes from growing up together. Their vows beautifully showcased not only their love for each other, but the strong foundation of friendship that has carried them from sixth grade all the way to the altar.

Their Nuptial Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption was reverent, emotional, and breathtaking. The cathedral’s soaring architecture paired beautifully with the softness of the Easter florals, creating an atmosphere that felt both grand and intimate. Adding even more meaning to the ceremony, the wedding Mass celebrant and homilist was a priest who has been a longtime family friend of Alex’s. His presence brought such a personal touch to the liturgy and created a sense of warmth and familiarity throughout the Mass that made the ceremony feel even more intimate and special for everyone gathered there.

One of the most personal parts of the day was the incorporation of Alex’s love for classic cars — a tradition shared with his dad and something that has become part of Madison and Alex’s story together. During their engagement session at Cincinnati Museum Center, they included one of the vintage cars from Alex’s collection, and for the wedding day they chose an incredible black 1939 Pontiac with a rich red interior. The car brought such a timeless elegance to their portraits and felt perfectly fitting for their classic, romantic wedding aesthetic.

Another detail I absolutely loved was their cake topper, which was designed to mimic one of Alex’s beloved classic cars. It was such a thoughtful nod to a hobby and family tradition that has been part of their relationship from the beginning, and it added so much personality to the reception.

The evening at Madison Event Center was filled with heartfelt toasts, joyful dancing, and the unmistakable feeling of two families celebrating not just a wedding day, but a love story that has lasted since childhood. Guests were given disposable film cameras, and I loved watching their family and friends capture different angles and moments throughout the reception.

Madison and Alex, it was such an honor to document this incredible season of your lives. Your relationship is a beautiful reminder that God can write the best love stories — the ones that begin in the most ordinary places, even a sixth grade math class. I pray these images always bring you back to this sacred day: the day you began life together as a new family.

xoxo, Laura
