After years of dating and months of preparations, Elizabeth and Johnathan‘s wedding day had finally arrived. It was a sunny (and unusually hot) May wedding day in Northern Virginia. The day began and ended at the same beautiful location: The Inn at Vint Hill. This historic house from the 1860’s provided the gorgeous backdrop for the majority of the day. When we arrived, we could hear the excitement emanating from the house. Both sides of the bridal party were getting ready and there was joy in the air!
On the way to the church, the bridesmaids prayed with Elizabeth, saying the Chaplet of St. Michael the Archangel. The party bus driver remarked that in all his 14 years of driving a wedding party bus, he had never experienced a bride and her bridal party praying on the way to the ceremony. He was moved to tears as he listened to the beautiful prayers being raised to God as they drove. It really set the tone for the day, refocusing everyone on what is most important: the Nuptial Mass and Rite of Marriage. God had brought this couple together 6 years ago when they had met in a high school youth group. And now they were about to start a new chapter of their story, as husband and wife.
Their wedding Mass at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainsville, VA was beautiful. They asked Fr. Nathan Malavolti, TOR from Franciscan University to say their wedding Mass. He had been a wonderful spiritual father to them, guiding them through their engagement and marriage prep. His homily echoed what the bus driver had remarked upon, the reality that God was at the center of their relationship and should continue to be the center of their marriage.
After Mass we all headed back to the Inn at Vint Hill for the reception! It was so wonderful to watch all Elizabeth and Johnathan’s family and friends congratulate them and celebrate with them. One of the most unique parts of the reception was the arrival of an ice cream truck! It was the perfect dessert to end a very warm wedding day! So refreshing!
This was our first wedding back after giving birth to our daughter 10 weeks ago and it was such a perfect way to kick off our summer wedding season! Elizabeth and Johnathan, we loved celebrating with you and your families! Have an amazing honeymoon and enjoy reliving your day!
xoxo, Laura
