Christ the King Chapel Wedding at Franciscan University of Steubenville | MaryCeline + Maximilian

Joy is contagious.  It spreads, it radiates, it fills and it strengthens.  When I think about MaryCeline and Maximilian’s wedding day, joy is exactly the word that comes to mind. Matthew and I have had the gift of getting to know these two as students at Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH.  Something that is unique to life at Franciscan is the presence of men’s and women’s households on campus.  These are groups of men and women who live and pray together throughout the week, creating a prayer filled community for the students.  Each household has an advisor and Matthew and I happen to be advisors to households that have a special bond.  Regina Angelorum and The Knights of the Holy Queen are brother and sister households and MC and Max are members of those households! I had the pleasure of working with MC this past year as she was one of the student leaders of her household.

We were thrilled to photograph their beautiful wedding day! Their original wedding plans had to be changed, thanks to covid, so they moved their wedding from Wisconsin to Ohio. They decided to get married in the university chapel, Christ the King, where the attended Mass together as students.  Max’s parents were married in this exact same chapel so there was an extra special significance to this location.  Fr. Shawn actually pointed out that it had been 5 years since the last wedding in CTK and that this wedding was the first Mass celebrated in this chapel since the pandemic began and the students left. Extra special!

When the doors opened and MC began to walk down the aisle, Max’s reaction was truly priceless…pretty much every girl’s dream reaction. I was tearing up watching him gaze at his beautiful beloved walk towards him! (Gosh, I’m tearing up now just typing this!) Their wedding Mass was filled with praise and joy, thanking God for the gift of these two precious people who were about to start their lives together. I was moved by their music selection and just how perfect the lyrics were for this joyous occasion.

After the Mass we took the bridal party photos around campus and it felt SO GOOD to finally shoot a big wedding party again! Oh how I have missed large wedding parties and all their funny shenanigans.  The light, the dresses, the flowers, everything was just perfect and I am super thrilled with how these images turned out!

MC and Max, thank you for trusting us with capturing your day.  We are so excited for you to begin life together and even more happy that you will be living near by!! Enjoy reliving your special day through these images! It was a wedding we will never forget!
