Navy + Burgundy Wedding in Steubenville, OH | Caroline + Dale

This past Saturday, on the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary, Caroline and Dale were married in Steubenville, OH at Holy Family Catholic Church.  Though their day started with clouds and rain, nothing could dampen the joy that their wedding day was finally here!

One of my favorite parts of the day is being in the getting ready room with the bride. This is usually my first time getting to know her bridesmaids and family.  It really gives me a feel for the day and I love developing relationships with the people closest to our couple. Caroline had wanted to do a first look with her father so once she was all ready, we brought him in.  His reaction was just so sweet and I was definitely crying behind the camera! His love and awe of his little girl, now bride, was so touching.

Even though it was raining on and off, we still got loads of portraits! I always put “sunset portraits” on our custom timelines we make for our couples however looking at the sky and various weather apps, it looked like the clouds were here to stay.  We actually had arrived to the reception venue early so this allowed us to have more portrait time in a field down the road from St. Florian Event Center. We went into the reception and I felt confident that I had captured enough beautiful bride and groom portraits, even without a sunset.  But God had other plans!  About half way through the reception, Matthew told me to go look outside….it was SUNNY!! There was going to be a gorgeous sunset after all! It was such a perfect little wedding gift from God to end their day with glowy sunlight and colorful skies.

Caroline and Dale, we absolutely loved spending the day with you and meeting all of your close friends and family.  Your reception was filled with children and it reminded us of our own wedding reception! Kids all around, laughing and dancing the night away! It was such a testament to how much you value family and the gift of children.  We were so impressed by your families and how dearly they love you both! Thank you so much for allowing us to capture the story of your day! We hope you are enjoying your beach honeymoon and we can’t wait to see you around town!
