Jessica and Mike met on Hinge (which we are surprised to report has brought together so many of our Catholic couples!), and from the beginning, they were a perfect pair. Their August wedding day brought together so many of the things that are important to them—family, faith, friends, and a whole lot of fun.
Jessica got ready at The Lytle Park Hotel while Mike and the guys got ready at a historic brownstone Airbnb nearby. We met up outside the hotel for their first look and then spent some time in Lytle Park for portraits.
It was hot. And humid. Very classic Cincinnati in August. But Jessica and Mike were total troopers and didn’t let the heat slow them down. We were able to make the most of Lytle Park and the surrounding downtown Cincinnati scenery, and their wedding party portraits ended up being some of my favorites from the day. I loved being able to get a skyline shot behind them, featuring the iconic Great American building.
After portraits, we headed to St. William Catholic Church on the west side of Cincinnati for their wedding Mass. St. William is especially meaningful to Mike’s family. His parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents were all married there. With Jessica and Mike’s wedding, they became the fifth couple and fourth generation of his family to be married at St. William.
That made being there for their wedding Mass even more special. The church was built in the early 1900s and is absolutely beautiful, with incredible artwork and architectural details throughout the sanctuary. Jessica’s cousin, a priest from St. Louis, also came to Cincinnati to concelebrate the Mass and read the Gospel. Having him there made the Mass even more personal for their families.
After Mass, everyone headed downtown to The Cincinnati Club for the reception.
The Cincinnati Club was the perfect setting for their classic wedding reception. The room was filled with beautiful florals, elegant tables, and lots of family and friends ready to celebrate.
The reception had one particularly fun surprise. It was Jessica’s sister’s birthday, so Jessica and Mike surprised her with her own birthday cake. Everyone sang Happy Birthday before getting back to the party! The dance floor was packed for the rest of the night, with everyone celebrating, dancing, and having a great time.
Jessica and Mike, we absolutely loved spending the day with you two and getting to know your families and friends. It was a true joy to capture such a sacred day for you, and we are so excited to see what God has in store for your family! Enjoy reliving your day through your photos!
Xoxo,
Laura
