Family Farm Engagement Session in Steubenville, OH | Monica + Mitchell

On probably the most perfect, sunny and just plain gorgeous spring day we meet up with Monica and Mitchell at his family’s farm just outside of Steubenville, OH for their engagement session.  The weather was incredibly perfect: bright sunny sky, around 70 degrees and no wind…the perfect formula for glowy sunset photos!  I love shooting at new locations so I was thrilled when Monica suggested we use Mitchell’s family farm for their session.  When we arrived I walked around the property, looking at how the light was coming through the tall trees and glistening on the rolling hills. I knew that this landscape was going to make the perfect backdrop for dreamy images!  I instantly knew I wanted to use the open field (which I later learned is actually a hay field….clearly I’m showing my lack of farm knowledge…) but we needed the sun to be closer to sun set in order to be out in the open. But it was worth the wait…that field was a dream to shoot in!

Monica met Mitchell when she was in junior high.  He was friends with her older brother and they ended up working together in high school. After about 3 years of dating, Mitchell proposed to Monica on Christmas Day. They were going between family parties and they decided to exchange gifts privately.  Mitchell gave her a blue dress as a gift and then proposed…Monica was so shocked! Obviously she said YES! and she actually wore that dress for their engagement session! How neat is that?? Mitchell is very close to his mom and he proposed with his mother’s engagement ring which is stunning!

Their session was so much fun and I am beyond thrilled with how their images turned out! Like I said, that field was just a dream location!! Monica and Mitchell, thank you so much for trusting us with capturing this special season in your lives and we are so excited for your wedding day!!

  2. […] Monica and Mitchell‘s day was filled with sunshine, joy, happy tears and an overwhelming sense of God’s peace. They, like so many 2020 couples, had to adjust their wedding plans, again and again….and then again. But despite all that 2020 threw their way, they had a gorgeous wedding day and now they are married!  Praise God! […]
